Pressure & patterns
Perfectionism, over-responsibility, conflict avoidance, people-pleasing, anger, or patterns that work professionally but create costs elsewhere.
You may be seeking help with a relationship pattern, unwanted behavior, pressure at work, perfectionism, a difficult decision, or a major transition—not a “spiritual problem.” If Christian faith is part of how you understand your life, it can be integrated into the counseling without becoming the only thing you talk about.

Christian counseling—not only spiritual counseling
Many Christians are not looking for a counselor because faith itself is the problem. They want an experienced therapist who can help with a specific personal, relational, behavioral, or professional concern while understanding the beliefs and commitments that shape their decisions.
At New Pathways, faith can be integrated as much or as little as you want. Scripture, prayer, theology, discernment, Christian understandings of marriage and identity, or questions of purpose can be part of the work when they are relevant—without turning every psychological problem into a spiritual explanation.
Common reasons to begin
The practice is designed for high-functioning adults with a defined goal. Clients may be executives, business owners, physicians, attorneys, pastors, other professionals, parents, or people carrying substantial responsibility at work and home.
Perfectionism, over-responsibility, conflict avoidance, people-pleasing, anger, or patterns that work professionally but create costs elsewhere.
Recurring dynamics with a spouse, family-of-origin patterns, boundaries, repair after conflict, or difficulty being present after carrying too much elsewhere.
Unwanted habits, sexual integrity concerns, secrecy, repeated choices, shame, or the gap between the person you intend to be and the patterns you keep repeating.
Career or family transitions, questions of purpose, difficult choices, burnout risk, or a season where success no longer answers the questions that matter most.
A Christian therapist who can engage faith directly
Brian Bachman, MA, LPC, is a Christian and Missouri Licensed Professional Counselor with more than ten years of clinical experience. He earned graduate degrees in counseling and theological studies from Covenant Theological Seminary and is EMDR trained.
Christian counseling here is not preaching with a therapy vocabulary. The work can draw from EMDR, behavioral analysis, attachment and family-of-origin understanding, psychoeducation, direct feedback, and solution-focused planning while also taking faith seriously when it matters to the goal.
“The point is not to make every problem spiritual. It is to avoid pretending that a client’s deepest commitments have nothing to do with how change happens.”Brian Bachman
What faith integration can mean
You decide whether faith is background context, an active part of sessions, or central to a particular decision or concern.
These can be used directly when you want them and when they serve the counseling goal rather than replace careful psychological work.
Emotions, behavior, relationships, body-level responses, values, beliefs, and ordinary rhythms are treated as connected rather than competing explanations.
Faith is never used to bypass trauma, force reconciliation, defend unhealthy authority, or turn honest questions into evidence that you are failing spiritually.
A different Christian goal?
If your primary concern is spiritual dryness, doubt, anger at God, shame, deconstruction, church hurt, spiritual abuse, or a desire for deeper spiritual formation, that is a more specific service.
